WINONA LAKE - Canal Days is set for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in Winona Lake.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., there will be craft and art booths. There will be kids activities from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Cardboard Boat Regatta registration is 10 to 11 a.m. From 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. is the Cardboard Boat Best in Show voting, with the Regatta Boat race starting at 12:30 p.m.
Categories for the race include: kids, with one to two members age 10 and under; youth, with one to two members ages 11-17, with one allowed to be under 11 if there are two members; adult, with one to two members age 18 and up, with one allowed to be under 18 if there are two members; and corporate, with one to two members.
Those from a business or organization in the corporate category may have multiple teams participate.
Any money raised from the Best in Show voting will go to benefit Fellowship Missions. The partnership with Fellowship Missions is more to bring awareness of what Fellowship Missions does, said The Village at Winona Managing Director Nick Hauck.
There are approximately 17 or 18 boats currently signed up for Saturday’s race. Hauck said they like to have people registered by Friday to plan ahead, however, people can register on the day of the event until 11 a.m. Saturday. Register ahead of time at The Village of Winona’s website at https://villageatwinona.com/events/canal-days/regattaregistration/.
Hauck said Canal Days is a great community event that people can participate in. The event has been pretty consistent in the amount of boats participating in the race over the last couple of years, but Canal Days still brings a couple hundred people to Winona Lake to enjoy the event.
The event’s purpose is to help bring people to the area and experience what it has to offer.
