Hope Atchison Participates In Order Of The Engineer Ceremony ANGOLA – Forty-five seniors in Trine University’s Allen School of Engineering & Technology were inducted into the Order of the Engineer during a recent ceremony. Hope Atchison, a chemical engineering major from Warsaw, participated in the May 3 ring ceremony in Best Hall. The ring ceremony is the public induction of candidates into the Order of the Engineer, an organization that fosters a spirit of pride and responsibility in the engineering profession, bridges the gap between training and experience and presents to the public a visible symbol identifying the engineer, according to www.order-of-the-engineer.org
Franklin On Dean’s List MT. HOPE, W.Va. – Appalachian Bible College, Mt. Hope, W.Va., announced its honor students for the spring 2013 semester. Jarod Franklin, Winona Lake, a graduate of Lakeland Christian Academy, was named to the Dean’s List for the 2013 spring semester at Appalachian Bible College. He is a junior majoring in Bible and theology, and specializing in pastoral ministry. Students must be enrolled full time and have a grade point average of 3.25 to 3.59 on a scale of 4.0 to qualify for the honors list. A grade point average of 3.60 to 3.99 is required to qualify for the Dean’s List, and 4.0 is required to qualify for the President’s List.
Newcomer Graduated From Trine ANGOLA – Brandon Newcomer, Silver Lake, graduated with a bachelor of business administration, majoring in management, from Trine University’s School of Professional Studies. More than 400 graduates participated in commencement May 4 at Fred E. Zollner Athletic Stadium. It was Trine's first outdoor commencement in nearly 40 years.
Local Students Make Spring Arbor University’s Academic Honors List SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Spring Arbor University announced students from the area who are on the Spring 2013 Academic Honors List. The Academic Honors List recognizes full-time students who have received a grade point average of 3.7 or higher for the semester. Part-time students must receive a 3.7 GPA for the semester and carry a cumulative 3.7 GPA. Students from the area are: Alexandria Glenn, of Leesburg, a senior majoring in psychology. She is the daughter of Todd and Mary Glenn. Taylor Kline, of Warsaw, a junior majoring in English-writing. He is the son of Terry and Kris Kline.

Nathan Baker, Rochester, received a bachelor’s degree in management. Benjamin Blocher, North Manchester, received a master’s degree in environmental science – grad. Andrew Bushong, North Manchester, received a master’s degree in environmental science – grad. Julie Cline, Syracuse, received a master’s degree in higher education and student development. Amy Green, Warsaw, received a bachelor’s degree in professional writing. Breanna Parker, Mentone, received a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Kaitlyn Wilson, Winona Lake, received a bachelor’s degree in social work.
Students Earn Degrees From Trine U. ANGOLA – More than 400 students participated in Trine Univesity’s commencement ceremony May 4 at Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium. It was the first time Trine conducted the ceremony outdoors since 1967. Hope Atchison, Warsaw, graduated Cum Laude, Honors Program and Cooperative Education Program with a bachelor of science majoring in chemical engineering. Michael Lackey, Warsaw, graduated with a bachelor of science majoring in design engineering technology. Christopher Propp, Warsaw, graduated cum laude and Cooperative Education Program with a bachelor’s of science majoring in mechanical engineering; and with a bachelor’s of science majoring in electrical engineering. Jessica Smoker, Syracuse, graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor of science majoring in elementary education. Summa cum laude is awarded to students having met the required minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.95; magna cum laude, average GPA of 3.75; and cum laude, average GPA of 3.5 with at least 40 semester hours earned at Trine University. Honors Program recognizes students who have completed the Trine University Honors Program, which provides enrichment opportunities to high achieving and highly motivated students.

Andrew Prall, vice president for Academic Affairs of the University of Saint Francis, announced the students named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2013 semester. These students have maintained a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and have carried at least 12 credit hours.
