Butler University Announces Top 100 Most Outstanding Students
INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler University Alumni Association in conjunction with the Office of Student Affairs conducts the Outstanding Student Recognition program.
The program is in its 58th year and is continuing the tradition of honoring the top Butler junior and senior students.
Butler University announced the honorees for the 2018-2019 academic year. Due to a tie in scoring, more than 100 students were honored this year.
All honorees will be recognized at the Outstanding Student Banquet on April 12, where the Top 15 Most Outstanding Students will be announced.
Among those in the top 100 is Elaine Warner, a 2015 Whitko High School graduate. She is the daughter of Jan and Valerie Warner, North Manchester. Elaine is majoring in elementary education, with minors in mild intervention and recreation and sports studies.
She was on the Butler track and field team, and holds the university’s school record for heptathlon. Heptathlon includes 100 meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200 meter dash, long jump, javelin and the 800 meter run.
She’s a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority, Delta Lambda chapter, and the Kappa Delta Phi, international honor society in education.
Metcalf Makes Dean’s List At ND
NOTRE DAME – Isaiah J. Metcalf, of Leesburg, has been named to the dean's list in the University of Notre Dame's first year of studies for outstanding scholarship during the fall 2018 semester.
He is the son of Scott and Angie Metcalf.
Students who achieve dean's honors at Notre Dame represent the top 30 percent of students in their college.
Morehouse Named APAI Scholar
INDIANAPOLIS – The Asphalt Pavement Association of Indiana (APAI) named six Trine University civil engineering majors as 2018 APAI Scholars last month.
Robert Morehouse, of Mentone, was among the students who received the honor.
The students were awarded with scholarships at the APAI Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Scholarship Awards Banquet on Dec. 20 in Indianapolis. Scholarships ranged in amounts from $1,500 to $3,000.
Scholarships are awarded by the APAI Scholarship Committee to students studying construction management, civil engineering and construction engineering and management at five nationally accredited Indiana universities, including Trine. Students must complete an in-person interview with members of the Scholarship Committee to receive an award. The total amount of scholarships awarded in 2018 by the association totaled more than $52,000 to deserving young men and women who are United States citizens, in anticipation that many recipients will remain in Indiana and seek employment opportunities with APAI's member contractors.
Local Cedarville University Students Named To Dean's List
CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The following local Cedarville University students were named to dean's list for fall 2018:

Smith Awarded UF Endowed Scholarship For 2018-2019
FINDLAY, Ohio – Julia Smith, Warsaw, was awarded the following endowed scholarships at the University of Findlay for the 2018-2019 academic year: Oilers Beyond the Arch International Education Study Abroad Scholarship, Zahler Family Scholarship Endowment Fund and Barbara Rieck Heminger Scholarship Endowment Fund.
