ANGOLA - Fifty-four area students will spend two weeks at Trine University learning about career possibilities in science, math and engineering during the university's second ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp July 11-23.Former NASA astronaut Bernard Harris, the first African-American to walk in space, founded the camp, which is offered at 30 college campuses across the country for traditionally underserved students in sixth through eighth grade.
Sponsored by ExxonMobil, the camp is free to the students, and will inspire them to dream big as they learn about careers in sustainability, energy, clean water and robotics through the study of science, technology, engineering and math. Through the program theme "Robotimals: Animal-Inspired Robots," students will explore how nature can inspire engineering solutions.
Area students participating include: Sandra Bonilla, Leesburg, Lakeview Middle School; and Corbin Sloan, Warsaw, Madison Elementary School.
