Camper

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

I was surprised to see that the death of Eula Mae Welch made the front page of the Times-Union on June 28. Eula Mae was a lovely lady with a heart ailment who enjoyed attending camp each year . . . . . and who happened to be developmentally disabled.

Likely due to her heart ailment, Eula lost consciousness, stopped breathing, and received appropriate treatment but unfortunately could not be revived.

Eula was enjoying a beautiful view of Webster Lake while eating pizza and enjoying conversation with friends when she lost consciousness.

I hope that I am doing something as pleasant whenever I pass away. If I were so lucky, I doubt it would warrant front page newspaper coverage. If only I were developmentally disabled.
