Each year Camp Crosley becomes Camp John Warvel for a week in order to work with children who have Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes.
For 57 years Camp John Warvel has shown children that diabetes does not have to stop them from being children and enjoying most, if not all of the same activities their friends enjoy.
For children in Kosciusko County, a grant from K-21 Health Foundation will allow them the opportunity to attend the 2012 camp John Warvel at no cost. The directors of K21 approved a request to cover the entire $985 camp fee, which includes the $450 typically charged to campers and the $535 which is covered by the American Diabetes Association of Indiana through grants like K21.
The June camp is scheduled for June 10-16. Camp activities include swimming, kayaking, archery, crafts, rope courses, horseback riding and more.
