Camp Invention was in full swing at Pierceton Elementary School recently. This program not only teaches children academic content but it also helps them think creatively about solving problems. In this summer’s CREATE program, children were challenged to survive harsh living conditions after crash-landing on an alien planet in the Problem Solving on Planet ZAK® module, institute green city design by employing eco-friendly water filtration and safe waste disposal systems in the Saving Sludge City™ module, and uncover the science behind thrill rides as they build model roller coasters in the Imagination Point: Ride Physics™ module. Indiana State Rep. Rebecca Kubacki was one of the sponsors for this year’s science camp. She visited last Tuesday morning to see the program in action. Other sponsors were The Whitley County Community Foundation, DePuy, Biomet, Zimmer, Medtronics, Paragon Medical and The United States Patent and Trademark Office. Pictured are Kubacki and some campers on crazy hat day.
