By Studying His Word, God Leads People On The Right Path

My friend tells the story about riding in a boat with his father when he was young.
His dad placed him at the steering wheel as he sat in the back of the boat directing his son. They went around the lake as the father gave directions and my friend made the turns. One day he all of sudden realized that the steering wheel was not hooked up to anything! His father was steering the boat across the water from his position!
Life is much like that. There are moments in life when we think that we are in control and like that young boy we think we are steering. But in reality many times I can look back on my own life and see where Jesus was actually leading.
Psalm 32:8 says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”
By studying His word and listening to the leading of the Holy Spirit, God leads us on the right path. That doesn’t mean that life will always be smooth sailing. What He does promise is to be with us each step of the way. There’s a quote I love, “Look back and thank God, look forward and Trust God!”
