Busy Weekend Marks Full Return Of Fall Sports

McCutcheon/Hamilton Southeastern at Warsaw 

Warsaw volleyball played its first home matches of the season on Saturday, taking on two of the top teams in the state in a round robin. The Lady Tigers defeated McCutcheon 3-2 (16-25, 25-18, 25-21, 17-25, 15-10) before falling 3-1 (25-17, 15-25, 11-25, 17-25) to Hamilton Southeastern. 

CeCe Goode had 34 kills on the day to lead Warsaw. Madison Branam had 40 assists, while Ellie Hepler led the team in digs. 

Warsaw will head to Fort Wayne Concordia for a nonconference match on Tuesday.

Boys Soccer 

Carroll at Warsaw 

Warsaw dropped its first game of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling 4-3 to Carroll at home in a rematch of last year’s regional semifinal. The Tigers are 0-1 to begin the campaign. 

Mydin Burgher had two goals for Warsaw while Sam Lara added the third in the loss. 

Warsaw hosts Fort Wayne Southside on Monday.

Tippecanoe Valley at Lakeland Christian

Lakeland Christian began its 2025 season with a victory on Saturday, defeating Tippecanoe Valley 5-1 at home. 

Jashawn Zielasko had a hat trick for the Cougars, while the other two LCA goals were scored by Zaiden Miller. The lone Viking goal came off of the boot of Eric Murrillo. 

LCA is at Elkhart Christian on Tuesday, while Valley travels to Winamac that same night. 

Girls Golf 

Warsaw at Concordia Invite 

It was another great showing for the Warsaw girls golf team, as the ladies finished third in a 21-team field at the Concordia Invite on Saturday. 

Freshman Anya Puthucode led the way for the Lady Tigers, shooting a 75 to take fifth place overall. Fellow 9th grader Vivian Piecuch shot a 78 to take ninth, while senior Lilly Henderson shot a 76 to take 6th.

Cross Country

Warsaw/Manchester at Warsaw Invite 

The Warsaw boys took second place while the girls took first in the Tigers’ home invitational on Saturday. Manchester was also in attendance, finishing fifth in the boys race and sixth in the girls. 

The top four finishers in the girls race were all Warsaw athletes, led by Samantha Rastrelli and her time of 20:17.8. Eli Swinehart took fifth in the boys race to lead Warsaw.
