Business Technology Expo SetIn its second year, the Business Technology Expo looks to bring more to Grace College's Orthopedic Capital Center.

The expo is Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and it's free. This year there are 50 percent more vendors on hand than last year, according to Redwood IT's Dean Avey, who came up with the idea of the expo.

The expo will have information on topics such as:

- VOIP technology

- Access control systems

- Web 2.0

- Mobile technology

- Fiber optics

- Web design

- Office equipment

- Office technology furniture

- Attendance and payroll management

- Security surveillance systems and more.

"My main goal is to have attendees walk away and say, 'great, useful technologies here,' and I hope (vendors) show businesses what they can do," Avey said.

Along with more vendors this year, Avey said the seminars are different from last year as well.

A keynote speaker will be presented by PNC Bank at 12:15 p.m. The topic is "Economic Update and How Are Banks REALLY Looking At Credit Request By Small To Medium Size Businesses."

Avey noted that one key vendor for this year is Warsaw Fiber. The new company is looking to bring fiber optics on a large scale to Kosciusko County.

"It's a backbone type of Internet," said Avey. "It can really help a business."

Along with a free catered lunch from Smokin' Charlie's for the first 300 registered business attendees, there also will be door prizes from each vendor booth. One of those prizes include an Apple iPad.
