Burket firefighter Mark Nordman tries to console Forest Reeser while firefighters work to extinguish the blaze in Reeser's home. Fire caused extensive damage to the rural Burket home Thursday evening. Burket Fire Chief John Tucker said a cause for the fire has not yet been determined, but it is not believed to be suspicious in nature. Tucker said flames were showing through the roof when firefighters arrived at the Reeser home on CR 600W. The owners of the home were on the property, but not inside the residence, when the fire was discovered. A neighbor called 911 to report the fire at 5:46 p.m. Thursday. An estimated $80,000 in damage was caused by the fire, which originated in a bathroom. Burket firefighters were assisted at the scene by Silver Lake, Mentone and Akron fire departments.
