ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Bryce McNamee Burton, 86, of Redington Beach, Fla., died Aug. 9, 2009, in his residence.
He was born Aug. 16, 1922, in Danville, Ill., to Bryce B. and Minnie M. Burton. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Elnora.
He was raised and educated in Hoopeston, Ill. After attending Purdue University, he located in Rochester and formed Burton Mechanical Contractors, and later, a national subsidiary, Airvac Manufacturing. He was a member of the St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts, Bel-Air Country Club and during his many years in Rochester, was a member of the Rochester Masonic Lodge 79, president of the Fulton County Board of Aviation Commissioners and long time board member of the State Exchange Bank, Culver. He was named a Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor Roger Branigin in 1967.
Surviving are five daughters: Ann (and spouse Steve) Furnivall, Rochester; Linda (and spouse Mike) Hatch, Redington Shores, Fla.; Nanci (and spouse Larry) Cummings, Dryden, Mich.; Kathy Burton, Show Low, Ariz.; Christine (and spouse Jeff) Arnold, Indianapolis; and Rebecca Burton, Carmel; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter.
Cremation and family services will be handled by Anderson and McQueen, St. Petersburg.
