SYRACUSE - Bryan L. Truman, 58, of Syracuse, died at 6:56 p.m. May 19, 2008, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born July 20, 1949, in Fort Wayne, to James L. and Elizabeth Harvey Truman. On Sept. 29, 1984, in Wylie, Texas, he married Margaret S. Edgil, who survives.
He graduated from Columbia City High School in 1968, and attended Eastfield Community College, Mesquite, Texas. He grew up in Whitley County, moved to Texas in 1983, and returned to the Syracuse area in 2002, from Dallas, Texas. He formerly worked as a self-employed truck driver and certified welder. He was a member of Red Zone Christian Church, Enchanted Hills, and American Legion Post 253, North Webster. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in Vietnam.
Also surviving are a daughter, Heather (and spouse Charles) Rush, Syracuse; two sons, Brandon (and spouse Dawn) Truman, Cromwell, and Bryce Truman, Syracuse; seven grandchildren; his mother and stepfather, Betty and Robert Zumbrun, Columbia City; and a brother, Barry A. (and spouse Kathy) Truman, Columbia City. He was preceded in death by his father.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Tim Stiffler officiating. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery with full military rites by members of American Legion Post 253.
Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
