Bruce V. Petro, 75, of 38 EMS T30 Lane, Leesburg, died at 12:20 a.m. Dec. 13, 2008, in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.

He was born Aug. 3, 1933, in Muncie, to Dresden and Dortha Hammer Petro. On June 6, 1954, in Oaklandon, he married Janet Hauser, who survives.

He worked at Oaklandon Sales Co. in various managerial positions and was part owner from 1952-72. In 1972, he purchased the McKown Olds, Cadillac and GMC dealership, Warsaw, and in the early 1980s he purchased the Bledsoe Buick & Pontiac Dealership. In 1976, he built the current Petro GM Showplace, Warsaw, retiring in 1988.

He was a member of North Webster United Methodist Church; Masonic Lodge, Fort Wayne Valley Scottish Rite and Mizpah Shrine Temple, all in Fort Wayne; Kosciusko County Shrine Club; and Warsaw Elks Lodge. He served with the Indiana National Guard from 1951-61.

Also surviving are two sons, Steve (and spouse Kelly) Petro and Robert Petro (and companion Lisa Justice), all of Warsaw; a sister, Ann (and spouse Charles) Langham, Banner, Miss.; and two grandchildren, Jamie and Selby Petro, both of Los Angeles, Calif. He was preceded in death by a brother, Phil Petro.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor David Smitly officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with a Masonic memorial service by members of Pierceton Masonic Lodge at 7:30 p.m.
