Brown Breaks School Record Again

COLUMBIA CITY - The Wawasee Warriors cruised to a 97-35 win in boys track action as the Warriors' Eric Brown once again broke his school record in the 400 with a time of 49.5 Monday afternoon.

Brown broke his old record with a :49.6 last week against West Noble.

Tyson Kasse won the 100 for Wawasee with a time of 11.3 seconds.

Wawasee finished first in 13 of the 16 events Monday afternoon.

Ryan Smythe finished first in both the 1,600 and 3,200 with time of 4:45.0 and 10:21.2, respectively.

The Warriors, 2-0 on the season, are next in action Thursday as they travel to Fairfield to take on the Falcons and Bremen.

The Wawasee Warriors fell to Lakeland in 10 innings by the score of 3-2 in non-conference action. Ashlee Ort and Kaylyn Price each had a hit for the Warriors while Angie Beer and Kalyn Lantz scored Wawasee's two runs. Wawasee's Catie Hapner was saddled with the loss after pitching all 10 innings.

The Tippecanoe Valley Vikings won their season opener against NorthWood, 13-3. Kristin Harshman was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts and two walks. Brandi Utter went 3-3 with a double and two RBI to lead the Vikings. Valley, 1-0 on the seaosn, takes on Maconaquah today on the road.

Hoffer Named Junior All-Star

Tippecanoe Valley junior Chad Hoffer was named a junior all-star on the Central Six team.

The team will combine with the Core Six team to play three exhibition games against the Indiana All-Stars June 13, 19 and 21. Hoffer led Valley to a 19-5 record and a regional championship appearance.
