He's not "King of the Hill," but he wrote the theme song for the Fox Television show.

Saturday, Brian Blush will perform with South Slope Cutthroats at Rex's Rendezvous, Warsaw, from about 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.According to information provided, Blush's career highlights include being the founding member, lead guitarist and songwriter for Mercury recording group The Refreshments. The band's tours saw sold-out venues throughout the country.

Blush co-wrote the hit singles "Banditos," "Down Together" and "Mekong" for The Refreshments. "Banditos" peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Alternative Rock chart and crossed over into the Hot 100. The accompanying video beamed Blush into millions of MTV households.

The Refreshments appeared on the "Conan O'Brien" show, and hosted an episode of MTV's "120 Minutes."

The "Banditos" album, "Fizzy Fuzzy Big & Buzzy," spent nearly five months on the Billboard album charts and went gold.

Mike Judge, creator of "Beavis & Butthead" and "King of the Hill," commissioned Blush to write the theme song for Fox's "King of the Hill."

Blush also toured with the Gin Blossoms as lead guitarist in the early 1990s. He spent the last decade playing guitar and writing songs with bands from Tempe, Ariz., Portland, Ore., and Los Angeles, Calif.

The South Slope Cutthroats are a four-piece acoustic band. Band members include Blush on vocals and guitar, Mike Vance on percussion, Shaun Doty on vocals and guitar and Kyle Craft on vocals and guitar.

The band currently performs using a Cajon "drum box," so a minimum of space is required for the band to perform. Overall volume is kept at a level so the band can be heard, but still allows patrons to hold a conversation, according to the information.

Songs they perform range from covers of Johnny Cash and Bob Seger to more alternative bands such as Nirvana and Violent Femmes. They also play their own original songs.

Some of the previous venues where Brian Blush and the South Slope Cutthroats have performed include Backstage Grill and Fiddlers Hearth, South Bend; Squads 2nd Precinct, Mishawaka; Cheers Lounge, South Bend; and Harrison Landing, Elkhart.
