MENTONE – Brenda Sue Craig, 57, of Mentone, passed surrounded by family at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, at Miller’s Merry Manor of Warsaw.
Brenda was born on Feb. 6, 1969, in Rochester, to Don and Karen Kindig Craig. She graduated from Warsaw Community High School in 1987.
Brenda lived life with enthusiasm and a joyful spirit. She was actively involved in Special Olympics and Camp-We-Can, where she formed many friendships and created lasting memories. She also worked at the Logan Center Workshop, where she enjoyed contributing through a variety of tasks.
Brenda found happiness in many simple pleasures. She loved working on latch hook projects, reading, watching “The Young and the Restless” and cheering on her beloved Dallas Cowboys. She was also a fan of “The Dukes of Hazzard” and rarely passed up an opportunity to dance.
She especially enjoyed good food and treasured spending time with her family. Brenda often took on the role of "the adult in the room," lovingly bossing her nieces and nephews and keeping them in line. She learned from her mother at an early age the importance of household responsibilities such as washing clothes and doing dishes. Known for her gift of persuasion, Brenda could often talk others into helping her or doing things for her.
Brenda was raised in the faith and attended Bethlehem Baptist Church in her younger years. She also looked forward to attending Christmas Eve services at Beaver Dam Community Church.
She is survived by her father, Don and wife Janie Craig, of Mentone; sisters, Debbie and husband Troy Butt, of Coppell, Texas; and Meredith and husband Travis Adams, of Mentone; brother, Jay and wife Shelly Craig, of Mentone; four nieces and three nephews; and five great-nieces and -nephews.
Brenda was preceded in death by her mother, Karen; grandparents: Gerald and Emalene Kindig and George and Elnora Craig.
The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19 at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service.
A private family interment will take place next to her mother in the Sycamore Cemetery, Mentone.
Visitation hours will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18 at King Memorial Home, Mentone.
Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Camp-We-Can, 5282 N. Old U.S. Hwy 31, Rochester, IN 46975.
