Warsaw hosted the girls swim sectional on Saturday afternoon with 11 teams competing.
One thing is for sure, it didn't disappoint for drama as the lead switched hands all afternoon, and the championship came down to the last event with the Bremen Lions repeating as sectional champs.
Wawasee, which led part of the afternoon finished second while Warsaw came in third.
"Overall we swam incredibly well today," said Warsaw coach Terry Aukeman. "We had two new school records. Our 400 relay team broke a record that had been up there for 11 years and we also set a record in the 200 (relay). They set a school record twice this year and then a third time today.
"That's great, and of course Becca Noggle winning in the 100-yard free was awesome. We will just try to place as high as possible at state during Friday prelims in the 200 relay."
"This will be my first year swimming at state, I was an alternate last year so this is really exciting," said Noggle. "I was seeded second in the 100 and moved up, so that is great. I had a career best time. I really want to break the 100 freestyle record so thats a goal of mine. I am looking forward to state, I will just go down and try to do my best."
Warsaw's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Claire Beckett, Melissa Dick, Aislinn Ummer, and Becca Noggle will advance to state as they won that event while Becca Noggle will represent Warsaw in Indianapolis in the 100-yard freestyle.
Lowering the school record by four seconds was the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Beckett, Lindsay Munsch, Dick and Noggle. They finished second to Bremen in that event.
Preliminaries for state will be held on Friday with finals scheduled for Saturday.
"Top to bottom we did very well today," said Aukeman. "I felt everyone stepped up big today. We got about 15-20 points more than I thought we could, so I am very happy. We would have liked to have won but Bremen and Wawasee swam real well."
Wawasee took the lead in the meet after six events as Warrior Sarah Marty blitzed the field in the 100-yard butterfly by nearly four seconds. She will go to state in that event. Her points gave the Warriors a lead they wouldn't relinquish until the next to last event.
Bremen put three girls in the finals of the 100-yard breaststroke and they finished third, fifth and sixth to put the Lions in front by 2.5 points with one event remaining, the 400-yard freestyle relay.
The Warriors needed to defeat Bremen in that event to win the overall championship, but unfortunately for the Warriors, who were seeded first, Bremen won the event and with it the sectional championship.
"I thought we swam well," said a disappointed Warrior coach Roger Karns, "Bremen just really stepped up, especially when they needed to."
Karns knew it could come down to the last event.
"That was a season best time for our girls in the 400, we just didn't beat Bremen," he explained.
