Breakfast Optimists Provide Equipment For Child ID

Posted

The Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club is partnering with SafeAssuredª ID Solutions to provide state-of-the-art child identification in Kosciusko County.

The equipment was purchased with club funds, supplemented by grants from the Bill and Helen Dye Trust, the Kosciusko County REMC Operation Round Up and the Kosciusko County Community Foundation.

SafeAssuredª uses digital video photography to record a child's voice and walking gait as well as digitally fingerprinting all 10 fingers. This information, along with the child's statistics, are burned into a mini-CD. The CD and an identification photo are given to the parents. Should the need arise, the CD should be given to a police officer or agency. The police can distribute the information in a matter of minutes to other law enforcement agencies and the news media, as well as print missing child posters.

The Optimist Club and SafeAssuredª ID Solutions are endorsed by the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department. The program is affiliated with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the National School Board Association.

The Warsaw Breakfast Optimists plan to enroll children during the summer reading program at the Warsaw Community Public Library, at schools and other activities throughout the county.

Since the mini-CDs are free to the parent, the Optimists are looking for local co-sponsors from business and industry to help fund the $10 cost of the enrollment packets.
