Boy Scouts Learn About Textiles

Posted

Nineteen members of Boy Scout Troop 715 participated in a two-session, four-hour clinic to earn the Textile Merit Badge. They learned about many types of looms that have been constructed over the years, and the different kinds of materials that have been used to weave. The Scouts had to make their own loom out of popsicle sticks and then got to choose what kind and color of material they would use to make a project. They did their project using backstrap weaving. Troop adult leader Diane Madsen arranged the clinic and Lauri Hoover, owner of The Island Weaver, located in the Village of Winona, was the instructor.
