Boy Scout Troop 730 Has Winter Campout

Posted
On March 4, 11 Scouts and four adult leaders from Troop 730 left from the downtown First United Methodist Church parking lot on their way to Camp Little Turtle for a weekend winter camp out.
Of the 11 Scouts that went, only one had ever been camping in the winter.
The purpose of the trip was to acquaint the new Scouts with Camp Chief Little Turtle for the Troop’s upcoming summer camp there.
Upon arriving there on Friday night, camp was set up and most of the boys’ activities were getting ready for Saturday.
Saturday started with the boys cooking breakfast then cleaning up. Next, Dusty Rhoades, assistant Scout master for the troop, taught a class on how to properly handle knifes, saws and axes to where those Scouts needing their toten chip earned it.
After this the boys were shown a slide presentation by Bob Colfelt, Scout master for the troop, on what activities will be available at this year’s summer camp. Then the 10 new Scouts were taken around the camp to show them were most of the important spots on the camp are. That night the scouts made popcorn and movies were provided for their watching.
On Sunday, after breakfast and cleaning up, the Troop car pooled back to Warsaw arriving at the library around 10:30 a.m.
