Boy Scout Troop 715 Journeys To Study Indiana History

Posted
Last weekend members of Boy Scout Troop 715 journeyed to southern Indiana to gather up a little taste of Indiana geology and history.
Their first stop was at Blue Springs Cavern, where they learned about the way caves were formed over thousands of years. The informative boat ride through the cavern was interesting.
Their next excursion was through the Pioneer Village inside of Spring Mill State Park. Here they observed a grist mill making flour, toured the old settlers homes and were entertained by musicians playing old-style instruments.
The last stop of the day took place out in the back woods by an old creek. Here they discovered the rocks known as geodes. An hour was spent walking and wading up and down the old creek bed looking for the best geodes.
Each Scout and each adult leader enjoyed the geode hunt and took home all they could carry.
