Tim Nussbaum found a lot of historic photos from the Bowen Center’s past when putting together a 50th anniversary celebration a couple of years ago. The groundbreaking for center expansion Wednesday was another one for the history books. “It’s a pretty historic picture (and) I’m sure this will be used at the 100th anniversary,” said Nussbaum, Bowen marketing director, before he and 28 other executives, board members and Warsaw-Kosciusko Chamber representatives broke ground on the expansion west of the East Jefferson Street location in Warsaw. The $3 million expansion of the clinical services building will give the rehabilitation center more room to grow, said President and CEO Kurt Carlson. The corporate office has been located near the Kosciusko Community Hospital since 1961, he said, while clinical services are housed at the Jefferson Street location. Those will be swapped after the expansion is finished in about 14 months, with clinical services near the hospital and the expanded building used for management and training. Bowen employs about 700 people in 10 counties, with more than 70 in Kosciusko. “It’s a proud moment. This is a testament to our staff, that now we’re accommodating growth,” he told the gathering before they headed out, briefly, into the frosty field that will be turned into extra parking and office space. “I don’t know how long it will take to outgrow this one.”
