A contractor has not been selected to complete work on installing a right-turn lane into Da-Lite Screen Co. along Ind. 15N.
Bids were received for the project during Friday's Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.
Da-Lite Screen is at 3100 N. Detroit St., Warsaw.
Board member Jerry Patterson read a project bid from Phend & Brown Inc., Milford, for $179,993.09 during the meeting. A bid also was received from Niblock, Columbia City, but the sealed bid was not opened.
Mayor Ernie Wiggins said bids had to be received by 10 a.m. Friday to be considered. Another requirement the bidders had to meet was attending a mandatory pre-construction meeting.
Phend & Brown Inc. met the requirements by submitting the bids Friday at 9:36 a.m. and attended the mandatory pre-construction meeting.
However, Wiggins said Niblock did not meet the requirements by submitting their bid at 10:05 a.m. Friday and did not attend the pre-construction meeting, so the board did not open and read the sealed bid from the company.
Wiggins said the engineering estimate Herceg Associates provided for the project was $105,000. Phend & Brown's bid will be taken under advisement, and the project will be bid again and discussed at the board's November meeting.
The project will include installing a right-turn lane into Da-Lite Screen Co. with hopes of completing the project by the end of this year, according to City Planner Jeremy Skinner.
The board also approved a $562.50 contract between Indiana Youth Institute and the Warsaw Police Department.
The contract is to hire a planner and consultant to work with the department's Victim Service Center to provide services in a more efficient and effective manner to women and children who are victims of domestic violence.
