BOW Approves WFD To Host Dive Rescue Classes

Posted
Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety approved a contract Friday for Warsaw Fire Department to host dive classes.
There will be five classes total, the first class beginning July 7 and the last ending July 27.
The agreement is between Dive Rescue International and Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Territory.
The training will better prepare the Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Department divers and the Warsaw Police Department divers for the dive calls that they could respond to in the future.
The training is for dive rescuing and treating someone who might have medical issues when diving.
Warsaw Fire Chief Mike Brubaker said the training will allow local fire and police personnel to interact with other divers who come to the training.
Jeff Grose, board member, said, from an economical standpoint, the divers from other areas will provide revenue to the city when they come to town.
Also during the meeting, the board approved a $28,230 change order for work on the new city hall on Buffalo Street.
The change order was for salvaging the facade at 117 W. Center St.
The change order also is for detail work including additional electrical work, new lights and ballast for existing parking lot lights, additional new ceiling tile, door hardware and patio deck coating.
In other business, the board approved an agreement with Paula Bowman to coordinate First Friday events in 2013.
Bowman’s duties will be to work with Warsaw Community Development Corp. to plan specific monthly themes and activities. She also will develop a budget for 2013 First Friday activities and coordinate advertising for the events and volunteer groups to assist with event operations.
The board also approved a $351,513 payment to Grand River Construction for the Center Street pump station work.
The board approved a release of mortgage for a home at 1035 N. Park Avenue.
The board approved a contract with Sands Office Equipment for the department’s annual maintenance for the copier, printer and fax machines.
A contract for services between Warsaw and Kosciusko Economic Development Corp. was approved. The city will provide KEDCO with funding in 2013 for services provided.
The city approved a contract with city attorney Mike Valentine for services for 2013.
Thallemer thanked Warsaw Parks Department for hosting the site at Center Lake Pavilion for the city Christmas party Tuesday.
