Posted

Everest Excavating will be paid $34,389 for their work on the Fairlane Drive sanitary sewer project.

The Warsaw Board of Works approved the payment at its meeting Friday.

The board also approved $213,812.68 to Thomas Excavating & Welding Inc., and a change order to construct a new outfall for the wastewater treatment plant outfall projects.

After bids were received, the route of the new outfall pipe was moved to further avoid impact to the wetlands southeast of the wastewater plant. This change in pipe route resulted in more chain-link fence being removed and installed. The cost for the fence removal and replacement is $2,449.

The board also:

• Approved an Indiana Criminal Justice Institute Grant Award for $29,120 for the Beaman Home, which will be provided to the Warsaw Police Department.

• Approved $890 to Embarq for a service agreement for phone lines for the Warsaw Police Department. Embarq has not increased the cost of the line. The service agreement was due for renewal and will cover five years.

• Approved a $25,000 bond release for a fiber optic line issued by Ohio Casualty Insurance Company to Kentucky Data Link Inc.

• Approved two contracts for the Warsaw Parks Department for its Big Swing Fling Nov. 3.

• Approved hiring four part-time employees for the street department for laborers as leaf crew employees at $8 an hour, and approved a full-time firefighter for the Warsaw Fire Department at a biweekly salary of $1,502.28. Two part-time positions also were allocated, but employees have not filled the position.

• Approved four travel requests for the wastewater treatment department and park employees.

• Warsaw Community Development Corp. Director Carmen Lock announced street closures Friday at 4:30 p.m. for Spooktakular. The following streets will be closed: Center Street from Lake Street to Indiana Street, and Buffalo Street from the parking lot on South Buffalo Street to Main Street, as well as Market from Lake to Indiana Street.

The board will meet again Nov. 3 at 10:30 a.m. at city hall.
