BOW Approves Country Concert Headliner

Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety Friday approved a contract for country musician Jo Dee Messina to headline Warsaw Parks Department’s  country music concert.
The board approved a $25,000 contract with Dreambound Enterprises Inc. for Messina to perform  July 18 at 8 p.m. in Central Park.
Messina has nine No. 1 singles on the Billboard country music charts. She has been honored by the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music, and has been nominated for two Grammy Awards.
The board also approved a $2,200 contract with Voyage, a Chicagoland classic rock band, to be the opener June 13 for the classic rock concert in Central Park starting at 6:30 p.m.
The board previously approved classic rock artist Poppa Chubby to be the headliner for the classic rock concert.
Other contracts were approved for Blues Artist Mike Milligan & Steam Shovel to perform June 6 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Central Park; and for rockabilly group Bel Airs to perform Aug. 22 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Central Park.
The board also approved an agreement with RipFish Interactive to design and develop a ridewalk.com website.
The website is to promote the Winona Lake-Warsaw Ride-Walk program. The project was approved for full grant funding of $4,860 by the Kosciusko County Convention Recreation and Visitor Commission.
The project scope includes design and development at a cost of $3,900 to $4,400. It also offers optional content on the website for $360.
In other business, the council:
• Approved a request for Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Territory to apply for a $2,500 grant that will allow the township to purchase an airway system to assist during times of response for victims having difficulty breathing.
• Approved a salary for Keith Jones, street department equipment operator, at $16.09 an hour; and a bi-weekly salary for Nick King, Warsaw airport manager, at $1,663.46.
•Approved a $12,611.15 pay application to Harold McComb & Son for renovations to the third floor of city hall; and a $28,444.50 payment to Harold McComb & Son for renovations to the third floor.
