Charlie Smith and Jerry Patterson, Warsaw Board of Works members, made sure the city departments will be adequately heated this year.
Both approved three contracts with ComforTemp Inc. Friday to assure filters, belts and the overall operations of heating and cooling units will be maintained properly in the fire and police departments, as well as city hall. Costs for the services total $2,764.34.
Also approved were renewal contracts with Pro Air Inc. to inspect breathing apparatuses in both the fire and police departments.
Additional fire department ordinances approved were a bid acceptance for an 85-foot aerial platform ladder and an agreement for volunteer firefighting services. The $25,000 volunteer contract consists of 17 volunteer members, which Fire Chief Matt Warren reported was recorded in the department's 2006 budget.
Patterson and Smith also approved three police department contracts, including agreements for traffic control services, pension responsibilities and a lease agreement with Frauhiger Realty.
Dave Henderson, department head for the Wastewater Treatment Plant, was approved for a contract allowing him to purchase $4,217.07 worth of cabinets and countertops for the operation room of the southern sewage plant. The plant, acquired in 2003, came unfurnished, and the recent contract will help Henderson "establish something permanent for the building."
Also approved for the treatment plant were contract renewals for maintenance agreements on both plants' computer systems, as well as the plants' blower units.
The board also:
Approved a road maintenance agreement with Kosciusko County to share responsibilities in snow and ice control for areas bordering the city limits.
Approved a request from the street department for services from Ace Pest Control Inc.
Approved a contract with Bob's Cleaning Services for the floor maintenance at the Center Lake Pavilion. The contract, which includes cleaning and rewaxing throughout the year, totals $10,500.
Approved a $17,800 contract for the services Umbaugh & Associates provided for the November treatment plant cost of service study.
Board members are Patterson, Smith and Mayor Ernie Wiggins. Wiggins was absent.
