BOW Approves Concert Series Contracts

Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety approved several contracts for Warsaw Parks Department Friday Evening Performing Arts Series concerts during its meeting Friday.
The concerts are from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Central Park.
Performers for the classic rock and blues and barbecue concerts are still to be announced.
The board previously approved Neal McCoy to serve as the country concert performer July 20 at 8 p.m. in Central Park.
During Friday’s meeting, the board approved a contract for guitarist Michael Kelsey to perform May 25.
Other contracts were for Motown and rhythm and blues group Soul Funkshun to perform June 1; Irish group Kennedy’s Kitchen to perform June 8; oldies group Junk Yard Band to perform June 22; blues musician Keith Scott to perform June 29; folk group Alligator Blackbird to perform July 13; reggae group Zion Lion on July 27; and country musician group Kris Hitchcock and Small Town Son to perform Aug. 24.
The board also approved two agreements with Lakeview Middle School and Warsaw Community High School for rain location rentals for the Friday  Evening Performing Arts Series concerts.
The board approved a contract for the parks department to purchase a 2012 Bobcat Ski Steer Loader from Bobcat of Warsaw. The piece of equipment is a trade-in and the contract price is $1,800.
The board approved a $1,000 contract for appraisal services with William Neal, Indiana certified general appraiser.
The contract is for appraisal services to be provided on 11.5 acres north of the 67,000-square-foot retail shopping center being constructed north of Kohl’s.
Prospected leases as previously reported for the location are T.J. Maxx, PetSmart and Ulta Beauty, according to Jeremy Skinner, city planner.
The appraisal will allow the Redevelopment Commission to acquire 11.5 acres of land with a bond revenue generated from the development. The project is expected to be completed in the fall.
The board approved Brooks Huffer and Dave Vercautern to serve as Warsaw Fire Department fire captains, and Travis Rowland to serve as lieutenant.
The board also approved Amy Melton to serve as a part-time fire department administrative assistant, and Rebecca Jenkins to serve as a payment clerk for the Warsaw Wastewater Treatment Utility facility.
The board approved an insurance claim for $25,990  from DuPont Imprelis due to the weed control product called Imprelis. The city experienced damage to 10 Norway Spruce trees at Central Park because of it.
The insurance claim will cover the removal and replacement of eight trees and treatment of two trees.The board approved an Anderson Property Management agreement for 2012 for maintenance for the gardens in Central Park, an Ace Pest Control service agreement for monthly extermination control, and a contract with Signature Tree Company for tree care for cottony cushion trees maple scale disease prevention.
The board also approved a $5,500 contract with the city and Paula Bowman for Bowman to serve as a coordinator for 2012 First Friday downtown events.
The board approved a $158,000 contract between the city and Duperon Corporation for purchasing a mechanical screen washer compactor for the Center Street pump station.
The board denied a request from Mark and Donna Shafer to forgive their sewage charges that had occurred since 2007.
Todd Slabaugh, Warsaw building department, has condemned the house after being told by the owners that there are broken water pipes and they are unable to pay for the repairs.
