BOW Approves Central Park Concert Series Contracts

Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety Friday approved several event contracts for its 10-week summer concert series in the plaza in Central Park.
The classic rock, blues and country headliners are yet to be announced and approved.
During Friday’s meeting, the board approved a contract with blues musician Keith Scott to perform June 7 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Jimmy Buffet cover band Parrots of the Caribbean will perform July 5 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Cash ’N’ Cline will perform July 12 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Due Process will perform for the classic country concert July 26 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Bel Airs will perform Aug. 23 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The Time Travelers will perform May 24 from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and The Kari Lynch Band will perform May 31 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
In other business, the board approved Warsaw Parks Department replacing an S570 Bobcat skid steer loader. The department will purchase a $2,900 skid loader from Bobcat of Warsaw.
The board also approved several parks department event contracts, including a $360 contract with Becky Anglin for Zumba workshops Sept. 10 and 26 from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. at Pete Thorn Center gymnasium.
Contracts also were approved for Zumba workshops Oct. 22 and Nov. 7.
The board approved a $225 contract with Creative Comedy Balloon & Face Act  for Brunch With The Bunny from 9 to 10:30 a.m. March 23 at Center Lake Pavilion.
A $400 contract was approved with Creative Comedy Balloon & Face Art for face painting for the family carnival Aug. 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. in Central Park.
Also during the meeting, the board approved a request from the street department to replace a 1997 Chevrolet one-ton dump truck that has 73,671 miles.
It has rusted floor boards, the cab is coming apart, the frame is rusted and the truck bed is rotted and cannot be lifted with a jack, according to Lacy Francis, Warsaw street superintendent.
The board also approved the street department continuing with its two-year rotation of vehicles through Bobcat of Warsaw.
The equipment that will be traded and replaced this year is a Bobcat excavator and a Bobcat skid loader.
The funds for these purchases are available in the street department’s main budget and the motor vehicle highway budget.
The board approved writing off a $247.76 sewage bill. The property at 1100 N. Park Ave., Warsaw, is owned by Eric and Leah Everest, who filed for bankruptcy.
The board approved a hold harmless agreement between the city and Dan McKibbin, who owns property at 308 E. Prairie St.
The agreement will allow the city to store its 1912 American LeFrance Fire Truck and a 1920 Arens Fox Pumper Truck at the location.
Dr. Bob “Doc” Fuson donated the equipment to the Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Territory.
The board approved a six-month evaluation with a  salary for Ellen Hoffer, accounts receivable clerk, at $16.42 an hour; Chelsea McIntire, human resources administrative assistant, at $12 an hour; Richard Brown, street department equipment operator, at $15.61 an hour.
Other salaries approved were Orlin Miller, street department refuse collector at $14.63 an hour; Jacob Ponko, street department laborer, at $13.67 an hour; Jeffrey Cox, cemetery groundskeeper, at $13.25 an hour; and Angela Howard, police records clerk, at $17 an hour.
The board approved Linda Seise, Warsaw Municipal Airport administrative assistant, to sign payroll claims when David Beall, Warsaw Airport manager, is unable to.
