Bourbon EMS Gaining Three EMTS

BOURBON - The Emergency Medical Service will be adding three emergency medical technicians within the next six weeks.

Vice president LeeAnn Cretcher said Monday that Tom Patrick, Aimee Rooney and Jeremy Weissert passed the test July 12 and also the state tests. "They should have their numbers within six weeks and be able to run as certified EMTs," she said.

Cretcher said the Bourbon service will host an inservice training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation beginning at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 13 in the ambulance garage. Anyone interested in the training may attend.

In other matters, township representative Herm Rettinger questioned Cretcher on the comparable costs of service between Bourbon EMS and other local services and was told the Bourbon service is generally lower. Cretcher said the last price update was in 1991 and the costs for a yearly membership have never increased from $50 charged when the service was first formed 20 years ago. Rettinger said he thought a modest price increase was due.

Cretcher said memberships are still available during October through December to begin in January. The cost covers all persons living in the household for one year and includes two non-emergency transfers during the year. Persons living out of the township may purchase a membership for $75.
