A Warsaw girl was injured in one of two bottle bomb explosions Thursday night on the city's south side.
Police were called to the Gordon Clemons residence on Country Club Lane at 9:18 p.m. after the device exploded on his 10-year-old daughter, Chelsea.
The family had just returned home and Chelsea picked up what she thought was a 2-liter bottle of pop from the patio. She carried it into the dining room of the home, where it exploded, spraying her face and torso with a caustic liquid. Police noted that the liquid appeared to have dissolved carpet fibers in the residence.
Chelsea was treated by emergency personnel at the scene and later taken by her father to Kosciusko Community Hospital, where she was treated and released.
In what police believe was an unrelated incident, a bottle bomb was detonated in a car in Shadycrest Addition.
Carie Beth Stouder of East CR 300N was leaving a residence on Duncan Drive shortly after 10 p.m. when she noticed a 2-liter bottle on her driver's seat. A friend looked in the car window and suspected it was a bomb and told her to get away from the car. The two went inside and called police, but the bomb exploded prior to their arrival. The only damage from the caustic liquid in the device appeared to be on the driver's seat.
