Booze Board Approves Permit For Restaurant

Posted

El Palacio Tropical was approved for a retailer's permit, transfer of ownership and Sunday sales Thursday by the Kosciusko County Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

The business is located at the old Richard's Restaurant at 975 Anchorage Rd. Salvador Martinez appeared at the meeting with his attorney, Steve Snyder.

Martinez hopes to transform the business into a family restaurant and bar. He said he will be adding a rail between two walls to separate the restaurant from the bar. He will have to file for that change once it is completed.

"So many families come in with kids and I hate to refuse them," he said.

He said when he first began moving his business into the building, it had a lot of plumbing and water system problems. It was closed for six weeks for repairs at one time.

"We had to do a lot of work," Martinez said.

In other business, Kroger Limited Partnership I applied for a transfer of ownership of dealer's permit for Owen's, at 302 W. Market St. and at 2211 E. Center St., Warsaw.

The ABC also approved 15 liquor permit renewals including Pierceton Market, Lakeview Liquors, Service Liquors East, three CVS Drug Centers, Marge's Marina, Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn, Louie's Bar & Grill, Lamadre Restaurant & Lounge, The Keg, Blue Coyote, O'Connor's Park Pub & Grill and Claypool Inn.

The ABC meets the first Thursday of every month at 2 p.m.
