MENTONE – The discussion continues on “Hollowing Out the Middle” at Bell Memorial Public Library at 7 p.m. today.
Join fellow book lovers and interested community members at the book discussion for “Hollowing Out the Middle – The Rural Brain Drain and What It Means for America” written by Patrick J. Carr and Maria J. Kefalas.
Tippecanoe Valley School Superintendent Brett Boggs will lead the discussion, focusing on the “rural brain drain” in small town America.
Carr and Kefalas contend that with a plan and a vision, small-town America could be reborn and vital once again. With action by the community as a whole, the paradigm that “to be successful, our best and brightest must leave the community” can be changed.
Join the discussion and share ideas to keep Kosciusko County’s small towns replenishing and developing.
This book discussion is the first of three planned discussions.
Assistant Superintendent of Wawasee Community Schools Joy Goshert will lead the discussion at the Milford Public Library Jan. 26 at 6:30 p.m.
Ivy Tech professor Rebecca Faught will lead the Warsaw Community Public Library discussion March 14 at 6:30 p.m.
