Bonnie M. Gearhart

AKRON – Bonnie M. Gearhart, 93, Hoosier Village Retirement Center, Indianapolis, and formerly of Akron, died at 4:55 a.m. May 18, 2016, at her residence. She was born Sept. 28, 1922, in Wabash County, to Walter and Helena Likens Moyer. On Aug. 24, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pa., she married Harold W. Gearhart, who preceded her in death June 18, 2013. She was a registered nurse at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester, for several years and also had worked at St. Catherine's Hospital of East Chicago. She graduated in 1945 from City Hospital of Indianapolis with her nursing degree. She was a member of the Akron United Methodist Church for many years. Surviving are a son, Jeffrey (and spouse Sharon) Gearhart, Indianapolis; and a granddaughter, Lindsay (and spouse Evan) Childers, Portland, Ore. She also was preceded in death by her parents; an infant child; three sisters: Doris Newhard, Marjorie Cripe, Marilyn McCain; and a brother, Duane Moyer. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with Pastor David Eaton officiating. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery.
