ASHLAND, Ohio – Bonnie J. Summy, 95, Ashland, passed away Sept. 21, 2014, at the Wausen Center. She was born Oct. 25, 1918, in Leesburg, to James “Jay” and Anna Marie Niebling Becknell. On May 31, 1936, she married W. Raymond Summy, who preceded her in death Sept. 25, 2008. She had been an Ashland resident since 1958, where she was a homemaker and also was employed at Brethren Publishing for 13-1/2 years. She was a member of the Park Street Brethren Church, where she taught Sunday School, and she had also previously been a deaconess at the Garber Brethren Church. She enjoyed crocheting afghans and family gatherings in her home. She was also an avid Cleveland Indians fan. Survivors include two daughters, Janet (and spouse Ken) Rufener and LuAnn Patznick, all of Ashland; three grandchildren: Christopher (and spouse LeighAnne) Rufener; John (and spouse Jennilyn) Summy; and Lauralee Koppler; five great-grandchildren: Caley Koppler; Marc, Luke and John Rufener; and Jaxon Summy. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Beverly Summy, who died in 2011; one sister, Mary Bumbaugh; and a brother, Ernest Becknell. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Park Street Brethren Church. Calling is one hour prior to services at the church.
