Biomet Inc. shut down its second shift of production Tuesday and evacuated its facility after receiving a bomb threat, and an employee terminated earlier in the day was jailed in connection with the incident.
Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine said statements were taken from five Biomet employees who reportedly heard 29-year-old Keith Aaron Waites of 123 N. Orchard Drive #5, Warsaw, make threats to blow up the building. One employee reportedly received a telephone call in which the caller stated there were bombs in the soda machines in the facility.
Several local police officers, as well as a bomb-detection dog from the Allen County Sheriff's Department, combed the building between 5:30 p.m. and midnight, but no explosive devices or materials were located.
Waites was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail shortly before midnight on a felony charge of false informing and was released this morning after posting a $2,000 bond.
