The Warsaw man convicted last month of false informing for making a bomb threat to Biomet was sentenced Wednesday to one year in prison.
Keith Aaron Waites, 30, of 747 N. Market St., could be released from custody in as few as six months; inmates in Indiana are given one day off their sentence for each day served on good behavior. The Class D felony carried a maximum term of three years.
Waites was convicted Feb. 20 of the offense after a two-day jury trial in Kosciusko Circuit Court.
Waites told several people on April 24 while working at Medtronic Sofamor Danek that he put plastic explosives in soda machines at Biomet. Waites was employed full-time by Biomet at the time and was working at Medtronic as a temporary employee while taking vacation time from Biomet.
As a result of the comments Waites made, Biomet was evacuated May 1 during its second shift of operation. No explosives were located in the building.
