Boehner Speaks at Dane Miller's Home

One of the country’s biggest power brokers was brought in last week to help raise money for Jackie Walorski.

Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio) was a guest at Dr. Dane Miller’s home in Winona Lake Aug. 6.

The event was not open to the media.

Two roundtables were held. One was moderated by Miller on the effect of a pending medical device tax while the other was held by Kip Tom, Tom Farms, on agriculture.

Miller told the Times-Union this morning that Boehner spoke about the need to stem the country’s rising debt.

“He said we need to change how we do things in Washington,” said Miller. “He talked about out-of-control spending.”

Boehner warned of leaving huge amounts of national debt to our children and grandchildren, said Miller.

About 175 people were on hand for the fundraiser to benefit Walorksi, who is running against Democrat Brendan Mullen for the 2nd District Congressional seat in Indiana.

Also on hand was 3rd District Representative Marlin Stutzman, who faces Kevin Boyd in the fall.

Miller said he wouldn’t be surprised if presidential candidate Mitt Romney or his running mate, Paul Ryan, also came to town for fundraisers.
