SYRACUSE -ÊThe two-month-long mystery regarding the whereabouts of Gregory Frericks, 45, Syracuse, is over. On May 30, his body was found floating in Lake Wawasee by a local family.

According to Detective Todd Sautter, Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Frericks was found about noon Saturday, floating in an area straight out from the DNR public access site.

The waters in that area are about 70 feet deep and though divers focused their search of the lake in that area, he was not located until the lake warmed enough to allow some decomposition.

At this point there is no indication of cause of death and an autopsy is scheduled for 1 p.m. today.

Police believe Frerick's body had just surfaced when it was found, because divers had been searching that area the day before.

Frericks disappeared April 1 and his fishing boat was located in Lake Wawasee the next day. The boat was found undamaged, though it was partially submerged.

Air and foot patrols, sonar scans and dive teams have searched the 3,000-square-foot lake daily looking for Frericks.
