NORTH WEBSTER – Bobbie June Boyd Scott, 81, long-time resident of North Webster, passed away June 5, 2015, in I.U. Goshen Hospital after an illness.
She was born Sept. 29, 1933, in Tishomingo, Okla., to Thomas Franklin and Nora Warden Boyd. On June 29, 1957, in Fort Wayne, she married James W. “Jim” Scott, who died in 1977.
She lived in Oklahoma and New Mexico before joining the U.S. Army in 1954. Shortly after her discharge, she met and married her husband, where they lived briefly before moving to North Webster. She worked in banking in Fort Wayne, Pierceton and North Webster. Later in life, she worked for Helvey and Associates in Warsaw. She was a member of American Legion Post 253, North Webster.
She was a fun-loving, adventurous, independent sprit with a great sense of humor and was known for striking up a conversation with anyone, any place and at any time. She was most thankful for all of her friends that would stop by to visit, go out to eat or accompany her on whatever daily adventure she could think of. Finally, she would like to share her daily prayer, a piece of advice we might all heed, “Thank you, Lord, for giving me another day and please don't let me screw it up.”
She is survived by her sons: Mark (and spouse Donna) Scott, Syracuse; Brian Scott, North Webster; and her beloved cat, Tu,t as well as many friends and extended family. She also was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jo Ellen; her parents; four brothers: M.F., Guy, Pete and Carl; and three sisters: Dale, Hariell and Mona.
A celebration of life gathering will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Ind. 13 and CR 500N, North Webster. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, Warsaw. Private burial will be Wednesday in the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery with military honors by the North Webster American Legion.
