No injuries were reported after a boat motor and deck caught fire Thursday on Lake Wawasee.
According to Indiana Conservation Officer Mike Saffen and First Sergeant Terry Hyndman, at approximately 5:30 p.m. Elizabeth Clark reported her boat on fire.
She had reportedly recently launched the boat at the ramp and started across the lake when she smelled smoke and found her boat on fire. The conservation officers said Clark grabbed her personal flotation device and jumped into the water, where she was picked up by another boater, Joetta Lung, and taken to shore.
Clark was not injured, but the boat was reportedly totaled.
The conservation officers were assisted by the Syracuse Fire Department.
