Warsaw Board of Works members Mayor Joe Thallemer and George Clemens on Friday approved street closings for the 20th annual 9/11 Memorial event.

Mike Cox, representing the 9/11 Remembrance Committee, said there will be a parade this Sept. 11. The Board approved a Market and Main street closure along with Indiana Street extended, from Canal to Buffalo, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

A travel request for firefighter Aaron Bolinger to attend a live fire instructor credential course in Greenwood in June at a cost of $165 was approved. Other June travel requests were granted to police officers Lewis Fuller for a basic school resource officer course in Michigan City for $958; and to Rogelia Navarro for the Indiana SRO Annual School Safety Training course for $449.

Jeremy Skinner, community development coordinator, presented Anchorage Road project pay application No. 20 for $5,020.64 from Structurepoint. This is an 80/20 INDOT-funded project, which was approved.

Two Buffalo Street Plaza pay applications: No. 11, in the amount of $289,826.01, and No. 12, for $76,310.75, from Selge Construction, also were approved. The total contract price for this renovation is $2,209,580.80. Funds came from a Regional Cities Grant – $1,615,000; and the remaining balances were paid from redevelopment allocations and economic development income tax accounts.

The Troyer Group’s right-of way-services invoice for the Lincoln sidewalk project came in at $13,557.50, which was approved. Justin Taylor, city planner, said the project will get underway in 2022.

Taylor also presented the final pay application for the Market Street project  from Indiana Department of Transportation for $3,600, which was approved.

Street Superintendent Dustin Dillon requested purchase of six mobile lifts capable of lifting any piece of large equipment in the street, fire or wastewater departments. The purchase price is for $82,319.30 from Stertil-Koni, Stevensville, Md.

Dillon said the mechanics at the street department work on vehicles and equipment from all the departments and each department will contribute funds: street department, $27,439.78; wastewater, $27,439.76; and fire department $27,439.76. The purchase was approved.

Brian Davison, wastewater treatment plant superintendent, reported that the expansion project at the plant should be complete in two weeks. He presented two invoices from Wessler Engineering: one for $7,961 for asset management and a second for $56,161 for construction oversite, which were approved.

Also approved was a special claim from the wastewater utility for $33,041.20 for a vehicle from Warsaw AutoPlex. This is the first of three trucks ordered in January and is part of the utility’s budget.

It was noted the next meeting, scheduled for June 18, is moved to June 21 at 10:30 a.m.
