Blowout At Concord Leaves Warsaw With 17-0 Record To Lead Roundup

DUNLAP — Keeping its magical season going Saturday, the Warsaw girls basketball team improved to 17-0 with a 52-21 Northern Lakes Conference win at Concord. Improving to 5-0 in the NLC, Warsaw junior Nikki Grose was a force, scoring 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field and hauling in 12 rebounds and getting two steals. Also for Warsaw, senior Jennifer Walker-Crawford finished with 12 points, five rebounds and four steals and senior Melanie Holladay had an 11-rebound, three-steal game. Things stiffen up for the Class 4A No. 10 Warsaw Lady Tigers this week, visiting Elkhart Memorial Tuesday then Class 3A No. 5 NorthWood Saturday. Cagney Craig led the Lady Wildcats with 15 points in the win, while Maddie Gawthrop and Jordan Hall each netted eight. The win leaves Whitko at 6-12 overall and 2-4 in the TRC. Whitko closes out its TRC schedule Saturday at home against Wabash. The Southwood girls basketball team inched closer to a Three Rivers Conference championship with a 57-39 home win over Tippecanoe Valley Saturday night. With the win, Southwood is 6-0 in the conference, locking up at least a share of the TRC crown, as Wabash is 5-1. In the conference loss, Valley was paced by Caylie Teel’s 10 points, while Kelsey Ball posted six points and a team-high eight rebounds. The loss drops Valley to 5-11 overall and 2-4 in the TRC. The Lady Vikings are at Wawasee Tuesday night. The Warsaw boys swim team divers took part in Saturday’s Mishawaka Diving Invitational. Competing without their top diver in Dean Katris, the Warsaw Tigers were led by Brandon Elliott, who finished eighth with 302.30. Elliott will join the rest of the Warsaw boys at Saturday’s Northern Lakes Conference Championships at Concord.
