Blinders On

Editor, Times-Union:

I am writing this letter in response to Lonnie Slone's continued, willful ignorance "The Real Big Lie". I think it is you, sir, who have the blinders on.

President Obama's birth certificate has been shown and passed around in the media because of that silly rumor, and like you others refuse to believe it. I highly doubt any of you "Birthers" would "shut up" if you had the document in your hands. Also, by the Birthers' logic Mr. McCain would not have been eligible to become president either. I'm also fairly sure that if President Obama wasn't a natural born citizen of the U.S, Mr. John "Bonehead" Boehner would have shed a few tears over it.

You goofy Birthers need to just get over it. Obama fairly won the presidency like any other election, minus the one in 2000.

Second, isn't paying taxes more patriotic than continually cutting them? I'm pretty sure President Obama didn't really increase taxes. He, at the high cost to the U.S., kept those irresponsible Bush tax-cuts. Keeping those tax cuts is continuing to contribute to the debt and money printing thing you seem to be stomping your heals about. The president wanted to let the cuts expire on those few who make much more than $250,000 a year, which would only increase their taxes around 3 percent. Your right, those poor rich people would starve ... Either way, with my income I wouldn't mind paying a little bit more in taxes so someone with cancer could get the insurance they need, you know because most insurance companies would be trying to drop them any way they could.

I think you watch too much Glen "Nut Job" Beck.

Mr. Reagan did do some tax increasing and some spending increases. So, you and those that seem to worship him, need to get off your lousy Reagan high horse that you all seem to be on. I'm not saying he wasn't a good president, nor am I saying he was bad, but the facts appear to be a little bent.

As far as your little high-speed rail tirade, that would help stimulate job growth, particularly in the manufacturing industry. Are you against creating jobs? The railway would help increase revenue and better connect the country. I'm pretty sure a lot of modern industrial societies have high-speed rail systems or are on their way to getting one.

"How about he do something for the homeless or the unemployed here in this country." I'm sure job creation would just hurt them, not to mention the extended unemployment that was passed under Obama.

Now, Mr. Slone, I would suggest instead of trying to sound witty with you lack of research, that you use the Google on the Internet machine to look up want you want to rant about. I have read several of your letters and nescience appears to be a trend.

I hope this helps but, I'm sure you'll just label me another Obama zombie.

Have nice day, Mr. Slone.
