Blessed Fulton Sheen

Posted

Editor, Times-Union:
Last month, the Catholic Church beatified Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. For those unaware, Beatification is the next step in the process of becoming a saint which gives him the title “Blessed” and allows for limited veneration. Many Catholics view Sheen as a hero and have been waiting for this day for a long time.
For those who do not yet know him, Sheen was known for preaching on radio before transitioning to television. He reached tens of millions across the country and converted many while explaining the faith. If you watch any clip or full episode on social media, you’ll see that his messages still resonate today as he discussed addiction, suffering, the evils of communism, and the meaning of life. He has generational appeal as well, as my grandfather told me that his grandparents loved watching him and a written collection of his shows I read changed my life.
For those reasons, go read and watch his work. His message that Life is Worth Living is extremely timely as many in this world seem to no longer believe that. We could use that message in our life, no matter our age. Blessed Fulton J. Sheen, pray for us.
