Posted
NORTH MANCHESTER- North Manchester Historical Society presents Norman Gable on the art of blacksmithing.

The event is Oct. 10 at 6:40 p.m. and is presented by Norman Gable in the assembly room at Timbercrest.

Gable, North Manchester, is a farmer who has studied the ancient art of blacksmithing.

With the modern help of the power point technique,  Gable will enlighten the audience on this historical profession.

He performs this art at Historic Fort Wayne's Old Fort from time to time. He also works on his blacksmithing craft at home due to the foresight of his grandfather.

More than 60 years ago his grandfather purchased the contents of a blacksmith's shop. Gable now has this equipment up and running and makes many historical items.

Gable with his wife, Laura, and their family are active in historical re-enactments.

He uses a large trailer which is well stocked with items used for historic events which he attends in the tri-state area.

The public is invited to come also at 6 p.m. to the assembly room at Timbercrest for a meal.
The program is free, though the cost of the meal is $7.50.

For those who wish to attend, reservations must be made no later than noon on Oct. 7.
