ALBION – Saturday, Oct. 29 and Sunday, Oct. 30 mark the end of general visitation and tours at Black Pine Animal Sanctuary for the season.
A general admission event, Turkey Day, will be held Saturday, Nov. 25, where guests can witness the animal residents receiving Thanksgiving enrichment and treats.
Hours for this weekend and Turkey Day are 1 to 4 p.m.
Black Pine will reopen for the 2024 season the first weekend of May.
The newest resident, Barabas, a 500-pound American Black Bear, is now in his new habitat fattening up for hibernation. Barnabas is a senior bear whose owners had declawed and defanged him for their safety while keeping him as a pet on an Iowa farm.
General admission rates are: under 1, free; ages 1-4, $10; ages 5-17, $12.50; adults, 18-61, $17.50; and seniors 62 and older, $15.50.
