NAPPANEE - Bishop Earl J. Miller, 89, of 23879 CR 52, Nappanee, died at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 27, 2007, in his residence.

He was born Nov. 4, 1918, in Nappanee, to John M. and Anna Miller. On March 11, 1948, he married Laura J. Borkholder, who survives.

He was a lifetime area resident. He was a member of the Old Amish Church, where he was a bishop. He was a welder at Gravelton Machine Shop most of his life.

Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Sue (and spouse Lester) Chupp, Nappanee, and Anna Marie (and spouse Howard) Miller, New Paris; seven sons: Karl E. (and spouse JoAnn) Miller, Harry Lee (and spouse Eva) Miller, Earl (and spouse Cynthia) Miller Jr., Mark Alan (and spouse Velma Sue) Miller, all of Nappanee; Dennis Ray (and spouse Martha) Miller, Milford; Arnold Eugene Miller, Syracuse; and Timothy John Miller, Middlebury; three sisters: Mary Helmuth, Goshen; Emma Miller, Millersburg; Lovina (and spouse Albert) Miller, Sarasota, Fla.; two brothers, Noah (and spouse Katie) Miller, and John (and spouse Verna) Miller Jr., all of Topeka; 36 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Mark Miller residence, 23530 CR 52, with Bishop Amos Borkholder and Home Ministry officiating. Burial will be in Union Center East Cemetery.

Calling is all day Saturday and Sunday at the Mark Miller residence.
