Biomet Sets United Way Record

Posted

Biomet CEO Dane Miller, along with key leader Darlene Whaley and team member Garry England Sr., vice president of operations, hand-carried Biomet's record-setting employee pledge total of $111,667.30 to the United Way office.

As a Pacesetter for this year's campaign, Biomet set an outstanding goal for their employees to reach, and not only did they reach it, they surpassed it by almost $2,000. Last year, Biomet raised $98,000 for United Way and set this year's internal goal at $110,000.

Miller started off a weeklong campaign event with a written invitation to employee team members encouraging their support and participation with the internal campaign. Because of his encouragement and leadership example, Biomet had a 12 percent increase in giving over last year.

Also, for every $100 in pledges a team member made, their name went into a drawing for prizes. Prizes were two 50-inch HDTVs, two laptop computers with printers, two Sony Digital camcorders and two Sony portable DVD players. Grand prizes included a pair of airline tickets, valued up to $500 each, and a weekend stay in Chicago plus $300 spending money.

The United Way of Kosciusko County and the community thank Biomet employees, along with the other 2004 Pacesetters, for the time and dedication each team member has put into their internal campaigns. Every time an employee is educated about the United Way, rewards return threefold to the community.
